JavaScript is a dynamic scripting language, supporting object-oriented, imperative and functional programming style. JavaScript must not be confused with JAVA. Even if JavaScript copies many names and naming conventions from, the two languages are unrelated and have very different semantics.The key design principles within JavaScript are taken from the Self and Scheme programming languages.
JavaScript was originally developed by Brendan Eich of Netscape under the name Mocha, which was later renamed to LiveScript, and finally to JavaScript mainly because it was more influenced by the Java programming language.
