The importance of data backup

While running a business which relies on your home computer and operating online, having duplicate copies of your most important data keeps you safe of running into loss of revenue. And yet, this is the most overlooked aspect of the small businesses. And here it is, probably the most important reason to backup you data: to avoid loss of revenue.

Most of the startups relay on the fact their hardware is brand new and take unnecessary risks. They simply choose to ignore the fact that even new hardwares are not infallible. They equally ignore how easy is to lose their laptops, a short moment of inattention while drinking the coffee at coffee shop and the laptop is gone, forever! To damage and put the laptop out of commission is a simple task too, a dropped bag or a split of drink can to this job in less than one second.

Besides to avoid the loss of revenue and the fact that data is the essential aspect of running a business, no matter how small or large it is, I can’t imagine any important reason for choosing to backup your data.

Where to backup your data ?

Most of the peoples choose external devices like memory stick, SD cards or external HDDs for backing up their personal data. At the opposite, small business choose online backup, usually cloud. The main advantages of backing up your data in cloud is that you can access your data from any computer, tablet or smart phone. Moreover, you can access your data without restriction on time or location.

My advice is not to backup your data in only one place, but to keep several copy of data in different locations in order to protect you data against natural disaster.
