Java Database Connectivity (or simple JDBC) is an API for the Java programming language that defines how a java program may access data stored in a relational database. JDBC provides methods for querying and updating data in a database.
For the first time, JDBC has been released by Sun Microsystems on February 19th, 1997 as part of JDK 1.1. Nowadays, JDBC is on version 4.2 and it is included in Java SE 8.
JDBC is also a important subject for OCP Certifications.
